About us
A digital newspaper on Europe, published in Norway in Portuguese and English.
Boreal Times covers economy, science, technology and geopolitics in Europe, Russia included. The newsroom is in Norway and the paper appears in Portuguese and English.
It follows one thread: the public and private money redrawing the continent, and what it builds where.
The house
It started as a blog in 2010. In 2017 it became a publisher, with Duna Press, a Portuguese-language digital newspaper published daily ever since. Boreal Times was founded in 2025 as the house’s second title.
The two papers touch on the same subjects and never share content: what runs in Boreal does not run in Duna, and the reverse holds too. Every article is written once, for one of them.
Being in northern Europe has a practical reporting consequence. Much of what drives rearmament and the race for energy and data passes through Nordic documents — procurement plans, grid permits, connection queues, company registers — which are public, in the original language, and barely read outside the region.
What we don’t do
We publish no paid content. The paper carries network advertising, clearly separated from the text, and no advertiser has any influence over what is published.
We don’t recommend investments and we are not advisers. We explain the decision, the mechanism and the effect.
We provide no intelligence services to any government, armed force or industry, and we take no work from those we cover.
Reading without advertising
The site is open and entirely free. Readers who prefer no advertising can subscribe through the app.
