Terms of use
Conditions of access to Boreal Times.
Draft for legal review. Written for a publisher established in Norway with readers in Brazil and elsewhere. It must be checked by counsel in both regimes before billing goes live.
1. Publisher and scope
Boreal Times is a periodical journalistic publication from Duna Press. Legal representation and ownership rest with Digital Solutions - De Barros, org. no. 996 041 468, registered in Norway. These terms govern access to the site and its content.
Reading is open to anyone up to the third paragraph of each piece. The remainder is reserved for subscribers.
2. Nature of the content
The content is journalistic and informational. It is not investment advice, securities analysis, or financial, tax or legal counsel. The publication is not a licensed analyst or registered adviser in any jurisdiction. Decisions about assets taken on the basis of what is read here are the reader’s sole responsibility.
3. Subscription and access
Subscriptions are personal, named and non-transferable, tied to the email address given at sign-up. Sharing access, redistributing issues or reproducing content for third parties permits suspension of the subscription.
Access is confirmed by a link sent to the subscription email. There is no password.
4. Billing
Subscriptions are taken out and billed through the App Store or Google Play, depending on the store used. Price, currency, renewal and cancellation are managed in the subscriber’s Apple or Google account and are governed by that store’s terms.
Renewal is automatic until cancelled in the store’s own subscription settings. Access continues to the end of the period already paid for.
Team access is contracted directly with the newsroom, under a separate agreement.
5. Right of withdrawal
Because billing is processed by the app store, refund and cancellation requests follow the policy of the App Store or Google Play, which also handles them.
This does not remove the withdrawal rights available under the law of the subscriber’s country of residence — fourteen days in the European Economic Area, and seven calendar days in Brazil under article 49 of the Consumer Defence Code. If a store refuses a request covered by that law, write to the newsroom.
6. Intellectual property
Text, tables, data series and visual identity are protected by applicable copyright law. Short quotations with attribution and a link are permitted. Full reproduction, translation and derivative works require written permission.
7. Subscriber conduct
Subscribers may not extract content by automated means, circumvent access controls, or use the data series to build a competing product.
8. Availability and liability
We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. Save for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, and within the limits of applicable law, liability is capped at the amount paid by the subscriber in the twelve months preceding the event.
9. Changes
Material changes are notified by email thirty days in advance. Subscribers who disagree may cancel in the store where they subscribed.
10. Governing law
Norwegian law applies. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer protections available in your country of habitual residence.
